What SewerRoots.ca is
SewerRoots.ca is one of seven exact-match portals in the HAUSE Sewer network. Each portal covers one part of the residential sewer line in depth — this one covers tree root intrusion in sewer lines, root cutting, prevention and sewer-safe planting. The network is run by HAUSE, based in Calgary, Alberta.
HAUSE Sewer is not a contractor. We do not clean, inspect, repair or replace pipes. We publish independent guides and tools, and we accept service requests that we answer ourselves and, where you consent and a suitable local contractor is available, share with that contractor so they can respond.
How we make money
The guides and tools are free. When you submit a service request, HAUSE may be compensated by a service provider it introduces you to. That never changes what a guide says: no contractor can pay to be recommended in our content, and we do not publish contractor rankings.
Editorial standards
- No invented facts. We do not publish made-up statistics, testimonials, ratings, credentials or guarantees.
- Money is an estimate. Every cost figure is a planning range in Canadian dollars, labelled as such. It is not a quote and not a price survey.
- Rules vary by municipality. Where bylaws, subsidies or ownership boundaries matter, we describe the general pattern and tell you who to confirm with.
- Safety first. Sewer gas, confined spaces, rotating cables, high-pressure water and chemical cleaners can seriously injure people. We say when to stop.
- Primary sources. We cite codes, standards bodies, governments and insurers — never a competing contractor.
- Plain language. Every page opens with a short answer you can act on, then the detail behind it.
