# SewerRoots.ca

Tree roots in a sewer line are fine roots that have grown through leaking joints or cracks and branched into a mass inside the pipe, where they catch paper and grease and cause backups. They are most common in older clay and concrete laterals near willows, poplars, maples and elms. Cutting clears them temporarily; sealing or replacing the joints stops them.
